Poetry, beginning with Pope's Essay on Man and including Rape of the Lock and The Universal Prayer. Other verses are by Isaac Watts, Rousseau (in French), and unidentified authors. Also includes a series of arithmetic problems and a few problems in geometry with diagrams and solutions; most are related to mercantile business, for example, "To reduce Pennsylvania money into Pounds Sterling...," "A merchant bought a parcel of jewels...," "A factor bought 4 chests of sugar...." Some of the arithmetic problems are by William Gibbons.
